I am an person-centred counsellor with many years experience of working with people distressed, unhappy, anxious and troubled by a range of issues. I will work with you on any issues you choose to explore. My aim is to create an environment where you can feel accepted, respected and safe to talk about whatever you want to, without feeling judged. I aim to understand you as if I am stepping into your shoes and seeing the world through your eyes.
About me and my practice
I am a registered member of the BACP and support my practice through regular supervision, training and development. My work is grounded in the BACP ethical framework, which contains the standards and principles for therapeutic practice. I am also on the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society register with Accredited membership. I have passed an internal audit with the BACP. Members are randomly selected for audit purposes to ensure their registration meets satisfactory professional practice. I have passed several enhanced DBS checks in my many years of practice.
Experience
I have experience and can work with you on a range of issues including: Anxiety, depression, trauma (including birth trauma), bereavement, loss, self-esteem, stress, addictions (including drug/alcohol), anger, family/relationship issues, gender/sexuality, self-harm and eating disorders. I can work with children and adults.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified person-centred counsellor at Bsc (Hons, first) degree and FdSc degree from the University of Brighton (both BACP accredited courses) in Person-centred counselling. Advanced certificate in counselling skills (Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural therapies).
Additional Information
COUNSELLING EXPERIENCE: I have practised as a counsellor in a range of therapeutic settings, including: with children and young people, counselling carers through a leading carers charity, a drug and alcohol charity, a charity supporting addiction recovery, vulnerable people facing homelessness and domestic abuse, and a placement working within the NHS (including perinatal counselling). I have also been trained and have experience working from a solution-focussed approach
ETHICAL & PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE: Registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). Accredited membership with National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, MNCPS (Acc.) I am fully insured and hold a current enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring service) certificate.
